Our Mission

ICAR-ATARI, Zone VI, Guwahati is undertaking a mission of great importance in North East India. Important missions are as follows:

Research and development: Carry out adaptive research for application of agricultural technologies suitable for NEH region.

Facilitate technology transfer: Transfer of advanced agricultural technology to farmers, extension professionals and other stakeholders to improve agricultural productivity and income through KVKs.

Capacity Building: Capacity building programme for farmers, extension professionals and other stakeholders on new agricultural interventions, practices, and technologies.

Validation & Demonstration: Validation of technologies through on farm testing and further front-line demonstration through the network of KVKs.

Do Work Together & Build Network: Liaisoning with different research institutions, universities & stakeholders.

Advisory Services: To deliver expert advice on weather forecast, crop management, pest and disease control, soil health management and sustainable farming practice to farmers.

Sustainable Agriculture Promotion: Encouraging the use of techniques for sustainable agriculture (organic farming, Natural farming, Integrated Pest Management (IPM), conservation agriculture etc.), which, in the long run, ensures economic viability and environmental security.

Income Generation Support: Assisting in developing and promoting additional income generation opportunities, to increase the earning capacity of the farmers and rural communities.

Combined, these missions seek to assist the agricultural development of the northeastern area of the country, catering to the needs and challenges faced by the local farmers, while promoting environmentally sustainable and modern agricultural practices.
